MIPCOM, the main international audiovisual content market, has honored the first season DVD of Deadwood with its MIPCOM Award for the Best Television Series DVD. The MIPCOM DVD Awards were organized in partnership with the DVD Association (DVDA, USA) and the International Video Federation (IVF, Belgium). An international jury chaired by Bernie Mitchell (President, DVDA) judged the original content of DVDs according to special features, web features and interactivity, programme content restoration and navigation and graphic design. Deadwood also won the Video Software Dealers Association award for Best Overall Presentation of a television DVD release.
Kikim Media's special features for the Deadwood DVD have won wide acclaim. Fresh Air's David Bianculli wrote that they are "as good as DVD features get." Kikim recently completed the special features for Deadwood's Season Two DVD release in 2006.
